Sundial Lupines help sustain our ecosystem. “A critical native larval host plant for several butterfly species, most notably the endangered Karner Blue (Lycaeides melissa samuelis), which feeds exclusively on its leaves. It also supports the Frosted Elfin, Wild Indigo Duskywing and Persius Duskywing caterpillars.” Sadly, the Big Leaf Lupine, although beautiful, has become very invasive here in Maine -which has then pushed out our native Sundial Lupine. This flower would great for your Maine native flower garden!

This plant will unlikely bloom in this season. It will put on a lot of foliage growth and bloom next year. I had one bloom for me last autumn, so you may receive a late season bloom! She’s a beauty!
